Storm

1 min read

Rain, rain don’t go away.

I need to hide away inside.

I am afraid of light, of day,

For all it reveals and hides.

Wind, wind bring me the clouds,

And the solace of whistling sounds.

Blow the leaves up off the ground,

So they may dance as they fall down.

Clouds, clouds block out the light,

Give me a dim illusion of night.

Cover up the bright sky of day,

With a sanctuary of dark gray.

Lightning, Lightning light my way,

A blinding flash of shiny day.

A sudden shock of realization,

Within a second long duration.

Thunder, thunder not far behind,

Shake the house and clear my mind.

Rumble, roar and give me a start,

As though the sky were falling apart.

Storm, storm oh so frightening,

Rain, wind, thunder and lightening.

Sitting safe behind the window, watching,

Comfy, cozy, comforting, and calming.

A beautiful girl
Lost to this world
Nothing but tragedy
All thanks to gravity
Or a bottle of pills
All thanks to sorrow
Sorrow that kills
All thanks to a razor-blade
And choices that are made
All thanks to a hanging rope
And a last dying hope
That things will be better now
Or different now…
She welcomes Death
In his black robes
And
She wants an end
To be like frozen roses:
Beautiful and cold
Darling, please don't
I am right here
No need to fear
No need to jump
No need to swallow
No need to cut
No need for sorrow
I will try to
Try to save you
Because I care
Darling, I'm here.

A beautiful boy
Lost to this void
Nothing but tragedy
All thanks to gravity
Or a bottle of pills
All thanks to sorrow
Sorrow that kills
All thanks to a razorblade
And choices that are made
All thanks to a hanging rope
And a last dying hope
That things will be better now
Or different now…
He welcomes Death
In his black robes
And
He wants an end
To be like his frozen rose:
Beautiful and cold
Darling, please don't
I am right here
No need to fear
No need to jump
No need to swallow
No need to cut
No need for sorrow
I will try to
Try to save you
Because I care
Darling, I'm here.

They welcome Death
In his black robes
And
They want an end
To be like frozen roses:
Beautiful and cold
Darlings, please don't

I will follow you,
While you follow me
We can follow each other
For all eternity
And end up nowhere
In an endless sea
Drowning together
You and me.
I will follow you
While you follow me
We don't know
Where we're going
We don't know
Where we are
Just the black clouds to guide us
Just the hollow wind to take us
Just the darkness to hide us
Just the bleak rain to break us
I will follow you,
While you follow me
We can follow each other
For all eternity
And end up nowhere
In an endless sea
Drowning together
You and me.

The Vision

4 min read
It was midnight—she could tell by the smell, the subtle change in the winter air. She could tell by where the full moon hung in the sky, among the clouds. Like a round blade poised to strike, like a silver axe waiting to fall…
She was at the sea shore. On the edge of a cliff, the sheer drop to the wavers and jagged rocks at her back. She could hear the roar of the waves and taste the salt form the spray. But she knew in her heart none of it was real. Everything she saw was from eyes not her own, everything she felt form a body not her own. She was at home, in bed. And this was yet another vision.
She was looking up at a great castle; the walls gray and sinister. Towers and spires seemed to pierce the very night sky. The far wall of the castle was built precariously along the cliff's edge and was leaning over slightly, as if to gaze into the waves below. Distant and muffled, she heard music. But the girl on the cliff through whom she was experiencing this vision did not. She only stared up at the castle, barren and hollow.
She heard a terrible screech and she looked up to see a giant bat flying above her. She watched as it dipped and dived, chasing unseen prey. The bat dove into an empty window on the front of the castle. She waited and watched, wondering if the bat would come back out. Then a black shadow shot out across the sky, angling across the moon. The girl stood on the cliff, mesmerized and hypnotized as the bat fluttered off to some unknown destination. She barely felt the jolt in her mind as the other girl, the one asleep in her bed, left her head.
Now she was the bat. A bat! But a smart bat, at that. She could feel her powerful wings flap through the cold air. She could hear the wind rush, amplified, by her ears. She winged away across the ocean. There was no land in sight, just the black abyss beneath. Her wings grew tired, but still she pushed on. How she longed to find a perch and hang upside down, to fold her wings and enclose herself in darkness. But no! She had a mission. And so she flew towards her mission, drawn like metal to a magnet, like a moth to a flame. Yum… moths.
Fear rose in her throat as the sky lightened. Dawn broke over the water behind her and she felt the warmth of the sun, like flames, on her back. It didn't matter that she was a creature of the night, it didn't matter that her wings were numb and her heartbeat was beginning to slow. All that mattered was the mission. So she flew, a bat possessed.
The girl still at home in her bed could still hear music and it seemed as if the bat beat its wings in time to the beat.
Land was finally in sight, the sand on the beach golden in the morning light, the water a dismal blue-gray. She flew past the shoreline and further still into a dense forest full of trees. And finally! She heard it! The very sound she had been sent here to find; her mission: the sound of a beating wolf-heart. The heart of a wolf that was not in the body of a wolf, but that of a human—or what appeared to be human…
She flew faster into a clearing where she knew he was waiting. She let out a battle screech and dove to attack—and he was ready and waiting. He leapt, high into the air, his red eyes even with her black ones. He had an axe clutched in his hands above his head and he swung, coming down with all his strength. She closed her eyes, bracing herself for the blow. But she felt no pain, as she was no longer the bat, no longer the girl on the cliff. She was herself, she realized. Her own name was on the tip of her tongue, and she was about to say it, to see if it felt right, but she didn't need to, because someone else was saying it.
"Rachel?" a voice says.
She woke from her vision and she could still hear music.

FLINCH IN FEAR

2 min read
Those hands are reaching for me
Trying to snatch me away
Trying to take me
And I cannot seem
To build a scream
So I'll flinch in fear
I'll sit and shake here
Curl up in a ball
To get away from it all
And pull out my hair
'Cause I'm alone here…

(My fears, my fears, drowning in my fears…
My tears, my tears, drowning in my tears…)

I wish I had company
But I sit alone in the dark
With these hands in the shadows trying to rip me apart
Fingers from the dark
Reaching out to me
Hands from the shadows
Won't you come for me?
Fingers from the dark
Pointing, accusing me
Hands from the shadows
Won't you come for me?
Those hands are reaching for me
Trying to snatch me away
Trying to steal me
Like a thief in the night
This cannot be right
And I cannot seem
To build a scream
So I'm flinching in fear
I sit and shake here
Curling up in a ball
To get away from it all
Rocking, back and forth
Rocking, on the floor
And pulling out my hair
'Cause I'm alone here…

(My fears, my fears, drowning in my fears…
My tears, my tears, drowning in my tears…)

They are reaching for me
Won't you come for me?
They are reaching for me
Won't you come back for me?
THEY ARE REACHING
Won't you come for me?
THEY ARE REACHING
Won't you come back for me?
THEY ARE REACHING
Won't you come for me?
